Level II Inspection

Methods we perform

On site, at your facility, or at ours. Every inspector holds current certification for the method being performed.

VTVisual Testing

Visual Testing

The oldest NDT method and still the most widely applicable. Direct and remote visual examination of parts, welds, and assemblies as a first-line quality assurance tool — including Certified Weld Inspection (CWI) to AWS.

Surface cracks, undercut, porosity, weld profile, corrosion, mechanical damage

PTLiquid Penetrant

Liquid Penetrant Testing

The least expensive NDT method, used to detect discontinuities that break the surface of smooth, non-porous material. Fluorescent and visible dye systems on ferrous and non-ferrous parts alike.

Quench, grinding and fatigue cracks; overload and impact fractures; porosity, laps, seams, pinholes in welds, lack of fusion

Castings, forgings, weldments, aerospace components, non-magnetic material
MTMagnetic Particle

Magnetic Particle Testing

Fast, high-throughput detection on ferromagnetic material using direct or alternating current. Wet and dry, fluorescent and visible techniques, with the yoke, prod, coil, or bench setup the part calls for.

Surface and near-subsurface discontinuities in ferromagnetic material
Typical use
Weldments, crankshafts and axles, lifting devices, structural steel, oilfield tubulars
ETEddy Current

Eddy Current Testing

Electromagnetic inspection for surface and sub-surface flaws in conductive material — with no couplant and no surface preparation in most applications. Also used for material sorting and heat-damage assessment.

Finds
Cracks, material and coating thickness, conductivity shifts from heat damage, case depth, heat-treat condition
Typical use
Aircraft structure and fastener holes, alloy verification, conductivity survey after a fire or overheat event
UTUltrasonic

Ultrasonic Testing

High-frequency sound introduced into the part to detect and size internal discontinuities, take dimensional measurements, and characterize material. Straight beam and angle beam (shear wave) techniques, including inspection of concrete structures such as bridge piers and foundations.

Internal cracks, lack of fusion, inclusions, laminations, wall loss
Typical use
Weld inspection, pressure boundary, forgings and plate, shear wave on structural and concrete assets
PAUTPhased Array

Phased Array Inspection

Advanced ultrasonics using a multi-element transducer. Beams can be swept through a range of refracted angles, steered along a linear path, or focused dynamically at several depths — giving far more flexibility than a single fixed-angle probe, with imaging you can archive.

Weld flaws with position and depth data, complex-geometry defects, corrosion mapping
Typical use
Critical welds, limited-access geometry, inspections requiring recorded encoded data
RTRadiography

Radiographic Testing

Imaging based on the differential absorption of penetrating radiation, using both X-radiation and gamma sources. Sized to the component — from thin-wall material and electronics through large, thick castings and forgings.

Internal voids, porosity, inclusions, cracks, assembly and joint defects
Typical use
Weld and casting acceptance, high-volume production, electronics, field source radiography
UTTUltrasonic Thickness

Ultrasonic Thickness Testing

Ultrasonic wall-thickness measurement to gauge remaining life and catch loss before it becomes failure. Determines whether a component has reached the end of its useful service life so it can be repaired or replaced on your schedule, not on the asset's.

BONDBonded Structures

Bonded Structures Testing

Ultrasonic bond testing to confirm the integrity of bonded and layered structures — whether you are still in production and verifying that a process is producing quality workmanship, or inspecting periodically across a structure's service life.

Disbonds, delamination, voids in adhesive layers, water ingress in honeycomb

Composite and honeycomb aircraft structure, bonded panels, wind blade assemblies
TUBETubing Analysis

Eddy Current & Remote Field Tubing Analysis

Tube inspection that identifies the common problems behind equipment failure and unscheduled downtime. Remote field testing is among the fastest methods available, and can be run on site for immediate results or at a remote location to reduce cost on large projects. The right technique depends on the tube material and expected damage mechanism — we will help you choose it.

LTLeak Testing

Leak Inspection

Detection and differentiation of leak types — leaks caused by defects, leaks in newly manufactured product, material permitting gas diffusion and permeation, and virtual leaks that mimic the real thing.

CWICertified Weld Inspection

Certified Weld Inspection

Weld inspection by a Certified Welding Inspector to AWS. Covers in-process and final visual acceptance, plus the documentation side that decides whether a weld is actually qualified — procedure and performance qualification records, and welder continuity.

API Inspection Services

In-service inspection of fixed equipment to the American Petroleum Institute inspection codes — assessing the condition of equipment that is already in operation, and establishing whether it remains fit for continued service.

Training & certification

Instruction by certified Level III instructors, per SNT-TC-1A, CP-189, NAS410, NAVSEA, MIL-STD, or whichever code you certify to. General, specific, and practical examination at your facility or ours — from new-hire certification through re-examination.

Level I

Foundation
